When fraudulent card activity is suspected, like when you buy a big-ticket item at a store where you have no previous purchase history, you will be contacted immediately by a fraud analyst to verify the transaction. If you tell us the transaction is valid, subsequent purchases will not be blocked. If card activity cannot be verified by you, the transaction will be marked as suspicious and your card will be blocked immediately. MasterCard® cardholders pay only for the purchases they have authorized on their U.S. issued MasterCard® card and won’t be held liable in the event of unauthorized purchases. The coverage extends to purchases made in a store, over the telephone, or online. Zero Liability is provided under the following conditions: the cardholder’s account is in good standing, the cardholder has exercised reasonable care in safeguarding their card, and the cardholder has not reported two or more unauthorized events in the past 12 months.
